#247 - Tines

Postby davidc » Thu 05 Sep 2013, 09:59

Tried to make this look like an ephemeral shot of posts in flowing, misty water.

It's actually a fork.

I also appear to have a slight day counting confusion thing going on and might need to renumber the 365 to fix it :(

I quite like this so never let me bleat about the pointlessness of taking photos of household objects again! :)

Playing with the cutlery!

This is a useful website for calculating the number of days between two dates. The day of the end date is not included, so for our purposes it is necessary to add one to the result.

#248 - Magnetic Levitation

Postby davidc » Fri 06 Sep 2013, 00:32

This was harder to setup than I expected... and I've been staying up WAY later than I expected processing it!

Not quite what I had in my mind's eye but I still quite like it!

Setup shot for day 248 -

Image
Day 248 setup shot by cedarsphoto, on Flickr

As you can see, tons of threads holding up the cassette and the unspooled tape. YN560II at rear at 1/16th illuminating the card (which I've learned today is covered in splashes from previous day's water shots, I need a new backdrop!). Fill lighting from the front via YN460 on min power.

Photoshop to clone out the threads and add a retro tinge.

Love the creativity here and the setup shot shows how much effort you have gone to. Good use of your light saber as well! Ahh the nostalgia of tapes, great memories. I wonder if in 20 years time the iPod will be viewed the same?

Thanks for posting. It's always intresting to see how things are done. I have an idea for a shot which will require a complicated set up and this might well help, although there will have to be some compositing in Photoshop as well.

#251 - Damaged Goods

Postby davidc » Sun 08 Sep 2013, 22:25

I'm not sure where the title of Damaged Goods came from but after saving the image, that's the title I had. Very bizarre.

So I'm sticking with it.
