#198 - One London Bridge

Postby davidc » Mon 22 Jul 2013, 14:40

Quite a distinctive building but covered in building works it was hard to get a decent shot! So I went for the super-geometric approach :)

#200 - Dappled

Postby davidc » Mon 22 Jul 2013, 14:41

Not a million miles away from where I took the shot the day before, this time I waited for some human element.

#201 - Glass Blown

Postby davidc » Mon 22 Jul 2013, 14:42

Another frantic evening finding a household object to take a macro photo of in an unusual way. This surprised me that there was more interest and more bubbles than I'd first thought.

#202 - Coming in to Land

Postby davidc » Mon 22 Jul 2013, 14:43

Not the shot I had planned today but waking up at 4am to see miserable weather I went back to bed and had a rethink.

I spent *hours* sweating in the garden taking photos of bees. I like them, knowing that they are basically safe unless you aggravate them, and they are fascinating things.

Finally managed to get a shot of one in flight :)

I did feel like an idiot when, shooting through a macro lens the bee is huge, it takes off and flies towards the camera getting bigger and bigger! Never failed to jump back in panic then realise the tiny bee was still miles away :)

I think you have really improved on the unprocessed shot here. I can see dancers having fun in the sun, or is that just me :?

Went for a moody, suspenseful feel - when I turned around and saw the shadows moving and drifting around it wasn't exactly spooky but it was definitely caught my eye. It was like they were flowing towards me. Went for a treatment that highlighted that feeling. Or at least tried :)

David - your lighting setups are really impressive. When you do your presentation I would love to know your setups and how you balance ambient with flash and so on. Your patience with this image has been well rewarded.
