Amateur Photographer magazine has just launched its APOY competition for 2021. There are a few changes this year and there is a new sponsor, MPB. The contest has reverted to the more traditional format of 10 rounds and there are new categories for those under 21 and camera clubs. Scoring has changed as well, with the highest marks being awarded to the top 10 images, with 10 marks going to those which are shortlisted. Entries for the first round, Black and White, close on 1 March.

Re: Amateur Photographer of the Year 2021
Thanks Mike for the APOY 2021 alert.
Are you taking part?
I have decided not to enter this year.
I am having fun with the other Photocrowd competitions that I am taking part in regularly.
Kind regards,
Iggy

I haven't decided but might submit my POTW snowy tyre tracks image into the Black and White categoty which is being held first and see what happens. Mind you, I did something similar a couple of years ago and had a top 30 place in the first round, also mono, only to get nothing else for the rest of the year.

Thanks, Iggy. There is a high standard in the competition so luck will indeed play a part if I decide to participate.

Re: Amateur Photographer of the Year 2021
Something I have not seen before, Amateur Photographer is publishing the access code for one free entry on its website. Previously I have only seen it made available in the magazine itself. I suspect that entries have been down over the last year or so and presumably this is an attempt to boost the numbers.
