MALWAREBYTES MALFUNCTION

Postby Compsec » Sun 28 Jan 2018, 11:56

Hi All, any of you who use Malwarebytes for PC virus protection may be having problems with it? Their tech team issued the following posts on Saturday on the below forum:

Hi Everyone,
We're aware of an issue with a protection update that shipped an hour ago that is causing all web traffic to be blocked and RAM usage to climb. We are triaging this right now with all hands on deck. We apologize for any inconvenience this has caused and are working hard to get a patch pushed out.

Hi everyone,
This issue has now been resolved. Please refer to this post for more info:

Hi Everyone,
We have just released a patch for this issue with Database 3803. Please update to the most recent update database by clicking on Updates on the Dashboard.

I had this last night and this morning. My MBAMservice.exe was running at nearly 2GB, some users reported it as high as 12GB. Basically nothing else worked on my PC. I got the PC back by using End Process on it but after a while it turns itself back on.

The patch they issued works. All you need to do is Update and reboot.

Cheers

Chris

Definitely a case of malware "byting"* I would say.

Whatever happened to testing updates before release?

* Where is the groan emoticon when you need it?
