Most people seem to be OK with the earlier start, so I propose that we meet at the club on Saturday, 3 November 2012 for an 8:15 departure for travel by car. Provided everyone is willing, we can reduce costs by car sharing with passengers making a contribution to the driver's petrol expenses. The remaining cars can be left in the church car park.

Apart from myself and my wife has also expressed an interest in coming along, those who have so far said that they wish to attend are:

  • Franke07
  • TheLuddite (Chris)
  • Tina
  • gcluer (Graham Cluer)
  • PaulW (Paul)
  • davidc (possible)
Note that I have used forum nicknames and the names from signatures where these are given.

I shall contact the Arboretum next Monday to book places on the photography session, so any additions or amendments by midnight on Sunday, 28 October.

The revised timetable is now:

  • 08:15 - Depart Croydon
  • 09:45* - Arrive Winkworth Arboretum
  • 10:00 - Participate in photography session organised by the Arboretum
  • 12:00 - Photography session ends
  • 12:30 - Lunch
  • 13:30 - Continue shooting
  • 16:00 - Depart Winkworh Arboretum
  • 17:30* - Arrive Croydon
* = Estimated

It has been pointed out to me that a number of people who will be going to Winkworth Arboretum might not have the use of a car on the day. I will be bringing my own vehicle and it would be useful if anyone planning to use theirs could indicate in this thread so we will know whether we have sufficient places to transport everyone.

As my wife will be accompanying us, I will have places for two people, three at a pinch.

Hi
I will be using my car, so have one spare seat as it is only a two seater.

I willl be able to drive myself and friend but won't have any other space.

If you get desperate get in touch and I may be able to negotiate a change of car.

Looking at the event details again, I see that there is a charge of £6 per head for the photography event, which I had not seen previously. There are still (just) sufficient places for all of us, but the National Trust is demanding payment in advance. The options are that we book individually or I can pay for those who wish to participate in the session if people can confirm that this what they wish to do. Since the places are being sold on a first come, first served basis and cannot be reserved, I need to know as soon as possible if I am to make a block booking.

If people wish to book direct, the number for Winkworth Arboretum is 01483 208936.

Regarding transport, my wife has dropped out, so we are currently down to eight people, which we can accommodate in the three cars which are going.
