My mobile no is 07585 509 675 I'm in Hever today which has a very patchy signal but I'll check for messages when I can. Will be home by about 3

This is my first experience of exploring an underground system which is not normally open to the public, so I really have no knowledge of what conditions could be like. Jase knows the mine, so I'll leave it to him to make the call.

we should still be fine.

rain means getting in will be a more "fun" but once we are under ground it will make no difference. there will be muddy/slippy bits but Ill point them out before we get to them.
Ill bring some tarp or something to put in front of the entrance. then no mud at all :)

Many thanks to Jase for organising a great trip down Godstone mine last night :) It certainly brought back memories for me, having last been down there 30 years ago ! If Jase is up for it I recommend others try it another time - it's fun trying out different camera techniques and the history of the mines are interesting. Apart from a few scrambles it's not difficult to get around (...although I am aching a bit this morning ! LOL) Watch the forum for some photos in the next day or so :)

A quick note to second everything that Rose has said about our visit the mine last night, including having aches and pains in unexpected places this morning. A very unusual outing and thanks to Jase for taking us in, as well as arranging the hire of a helmet from the local caving society. The ceiling can be quite low in places, so I definitely got my money's worth. :D

It occurred to me... taking these photos last night was a bit like the very earliest days of photography where subjects had to fix their expression and stay absolutely still to wait for the exposure !

Oh... and coincidentally, I just read this article on the BBC website... Jase, maybe you should reply saying something about Surrey's mining history ?!

Hi Rose

I have sent you an e-mail with a full size version of my shot from last night. There is some subject movement which is more apparent in the larger shot, but that's hardly surprising as it was a 15 sec exposure.

I am happy for either image, the one I have sent or the smaller one posted here on the forum, to be used in any way you see fit. Even Facebook, if necessary!

I can also let you have the Raw file, if that would help, although unless you have something like a Gmail account which allows larger file sizes, getting it to you might be problematic.
Regards
