Postby Bill Yates » Mon 17 Feb 2014, 18:48

“CALL FOR ENTRIES - SLF Finals Day 2014

The Federation of South London Photographic Societies' (FSLPS – more usually referred to as the SLF or South London Federation) is holding its Finals Day 2014 competitions at St. John's Church Hall, Eden Park Avenue, Beckenham, BR3 3JN on Saturday 26 April 2014.

The start time is 2pm for the competitions with a finish around 6pm but doors will be open from 1pm to allow members to see an exhibition of all the Open competition entries

In addition to the finals of the various inter-club competitions staged
since September 2013, and competitions featuring the best certificated images from each contest, there are also three Open competitions for which members of affiliated clubs(including Croydon, of course) can enter.

The nine competitions in total are:

Inter-club Finals: club panels – no charge
Alex Falk Trophy (colour prints)
Holroyd Trophy (monochrome prints)
Vic Smith Trophy (PDIs)

Certificate Winners Comps: no charge
KJP Trophy (colour prints)
Owen Trophy (monochrome prints)
Edwin Appleton Rose Bowl (PDIs)

Open Competitions: up to two images per competition, charged at £1 per image
Punch Bowl (colour prints)
Retina Cup (monochrome prints)
Jack’s Jug (PDIs)

There are three judges, all from outside the normal catchment area for SLF competitions.

Tickets for the event cost £5 including tea and biscuits. So the total cost, including entries, is £5-11 per member, depending on the number of items entered.

Any cheques must be made payable to “The Federation of South London Photographic Societies.”

Intending entrants for the Open competitions should note that prints must be mounted on 40cm x50cm card as for Croydon’s print competition. Entries that do not meet this requirement will be rejected.

PDI entries must be JPEGs sized to our usual maximum 1024x768 pixel requirements and in sRGB colour space. See link below for further details.
Instructions for Submitting Digital Files for FSLPS Finals Day.pdf

Each print must be accompanied by a similarly sized JPEG (again in sRGB colour space) and this should be submitted on a computer disc at the same time as the print. See above for further details

I shall be co-ordinating Croydon’s overall entry, as in previous years.

All individual entries (and relevant entry fees, as above) are to be submitted to me at a club meeting NO LATER than Wednesday 5 March in order for me to meet the SLF deadline for onward transmission to the Finals Day organisers, which is the following day.
