Drones - New Rules

Postby Mike Farley » Wed 07 Oct 2020, 17:48

There are new rules about the use of drones coming into force at the end of the year on 31 December. One of the changes is that all drones with a camera will have to be registered. At present, the rule only applies to those weighing more than 250g. Smaller drones of less than 250g will require no licence or flying qualifications but anything larger than that will. Once the correct certification has been obtained, drones up to 4kg offer some interesting possibilities but appropriate insurance is advisable given the potential damage such a machine could cause.

Amateur Photographer has more information but anyone seriously considering drone photography will need to study the revised regulations carefully.
