It turns out that I am not the only person confused by the many different pronunciations of this Japanese word. Here, at last, is a definitive guide courtesy of a Japanese speaker. There are quite a few familiar faces in the video, including a former Wratten lecturer.

It's bow (as in bow and arrow) + kuh (as in cut) isn't it? I'm surprised it needed an entire video to explain it (which I clearly haven't watched)

Ive always believed the second half was kay (as in may). Havent watched in either ;)
