Im still unsure if timelapses constitute as photography per-se but the below link is still very impressive and shows the dedication and patience in creating these videos.

I know what you mean, it's more a cross between still photography and video, but the movement makes it more like the latter. An impressive amount of time and effort must have gone into making it.
