Studio Lighting

Postby Mike Farley » Sat 22 Dec 2012, 13:10

Anyone interested in finding out about basic studio light setups might be interested in seeing the January 2013 edition of Black and White Photography magazine, which is due in the shops around now. Nine different lighting configurations are shown and there is also an article on taking portraits based on a reader workshop day. In addition the magazine has an interview with portrait photographer Michael Birt and examples of the top monochrome images from this year's Taylor Wessing Portrait Prize.

For further information, Lencarta's website has a number of tutorials which might prove useful.

I managed to get hold of a copy of Black and White Photography Magazine in Croydon yesterday and I it certainly does cover lighting and general guidance for portrait photography very well.
It tends to use more than 2 lights in a lot of its configurations so I am not sure whether we could reproduce these at the club studio sessions.
