Getting Good Results At High ISO

Postby Mike Farley » Thu 05 Sep 2019, 08:26

Amateur Photographer has an extensive article explaining the ins and outs. Some of it is fairly obvious, such as reciprocity failure only applying to film, but there are plenty of invaluable tips which include:

  • Turn off Noise Reduction if shooting in Raw
  • The effect of ISO invariance*
  • Shoot with a prime lens as they are usually faster than zooms
  • Use a wide-angle lens if possible as they gather more light**
  • Turn off auto ISO

* Probably the most useful advice in the article, for me at least
** That one surprised me
