Re: Dandelion

The image appearance compared to the digital version is one thing that is currently confusing me - I have a colour managed, brightness balanced monitor calibrated every couple of weeks and using printer profiles supplied by the paper manufacturer using printed examples I sent to them. So it's as ac...

Re: Dandelion

Well, you were right about the centre of the image! Frustratingly it did print darker than the digital version but by then I was too late. I didn't agree AT ALL about the vignette though, felt that was an incorrect assessment. Also felt the marking was somewhat inconsistent but hey, I like it :) I ...

Re: Photography at Night

There was quite a bright moon that night, which I had to keep out of the image as it was creating a very bright highlight which was blowing out, so there was some illumination. That said, it was still very dark and setting up was tricky. The exposure is as light as it is due to a combination of the ...

Mountboard

It has been a while since we clubbed together for a bulk order of mountboard from Wessex Pictures. With the entry for the club's annual exhibition coming up, I wondered if there would be any interest in placing a joint order? The price is £2-50 + VAT per sheet, but it must be bought in packs of 25. ...

Photography at Night

Last year I learnt a new technique for night time photography in unlit areas. It is simplicity itself, as 30 seconds @f/4 with ISO set to 800 will yield a well lit image. I tried it out for myself at Kingston Russell Stone Circle and one of the results is in this image. There is certainly something ...

Re: London Underground

I fully understand the prohibition of flash and tripods will be a no no as well, I would imagine.

Re: London Underground

I am not sure that colour adds anything to the first image and in some ways it distracts, particularly the light area at bottom left. In fact, now I have seen it, I wonder whether it should be toned down in the mono version as well. I like the second image, with the line of the platform and the trai...

Re: London Underground

Simon David has already said the things I would have commented on for the first image and I do not have anything to add other than to say well done. You have a remarkably steady hand. :) TfL is remarkably reticent on its website to say whether amateur photography is allowed, but I did see some touri...

Re: Dandelion

I think the difference it's made to the head of the dandelion is very interesting, and very pronounced. Quite like that it's brought out more detail. It almost looks like mono HDR? Maybe it's an artefact from the source image you used but I don't like the banding it's introduced on the vignette and...
