Hmm, I'm not too sure I'd want to get my lenses so close to a naked flame. Did you scorch your eyebrows?
I'm unsure what to make of the picture! It seems to be sharp where it matters including the tip of the wick. I don't know how to score it, though.

Tell the truth Mike. You ordered your wife to step into the spotlight and do some exercises!!!
Never-the-less a good spot.

Re: Urban Jungle
the other thing I wasn't sure about was a "void" at top right perhaps Top right is not as interesting (architecturally) as the rest of the top of the image. As an aside I would like to see some more of the architecture in Singapore. As for the judging ... No, I don't think I can be a judg...

Re: Urban Jungle
It's a pity the club doesn't have one or two judges amongst it's members. It would be good to get a judge's point of view before entry into a competition. Ordinary members though will probably give a truly honest view (after all they are after the same prize!). Urban Jungle - 10 points. It's a nice ...

Re: Urban Jungle
I did wonder, what about giving scores from 1-12 as though we were judging?
Good idea but I wonder how many people actually look at the forum let alone the critique section.

If you shot in Raw, then you could try adjusting the Highlights slider in ACR, or similar control in another Raw converter.
Done that. What you see is what I got. Idea good, product bad.
A fellow football fan, I see

A slightly different crop. The removal of the plank bottom right didn't go too well.

Re: Suspended
I went to the Amberley Museum & Heritage Centre many years ago I think you'll find it's improved since you last went. Check out the web site it will give you a better idea of what's there. I bought a nice wooden challis for £5. It had been made onsite by one of the craftsmen. we really need cle...

I was at Amberley Museum & Heritage Centre yesterday (Saturday) and noticed this scene. Any comments? EXIF: ISO: 250 (AUTO) Exposure: 1/160 (AUTO) @ f/8.0 (AV) Canon EF 28-135mm (I know, Mike, not the best lens in the world!) - focal length 135mm At the top is a web and the leaf at the bottom is...

Re: POTD 7 July 2014 - Peloton
My settings were ISO (fixed) 800; f/10 (camera set at AV); speed mostly 1/200, some at 1/160 and one at 1/320. Focal length was primarily 32mm or 50mm (wide-ish to standard). I was therefore getting a lot of the race into one image at a good exposure rate but, as I had set my camera at SPOT AF and b...
