Re: Autumnal abstract

Thanks for the response Mike. It was more of a test of the technique itself but Im happy with the effect this gives, I just need to find a suitable subject to apply it to. :) No doubt a judge would be confused with this image but they do get easily confused...

Re: Snowdonia's iconic tree

Believe the scene was quite magenta, it did just "flare" as I took this shot. The foreground rocks were brightened to even out the balance. Here is a shot from the quarry looking down on the abandoned wheel houses. Its a place that benefits from continual visits to get different lighting. ...

Autumnal abstract

Ive been experimenting with a technique called "in the round" popularised by Pep Ventosa amongst others. It involves taking multiple exposures from slightly different angles of your subject. You then stack each layer in photoshop and change each layers opacity to get an effect you like. Wi...

Snowdonia's iconic tree

By all accounts if you know the Snowdonia area you must photograph this tree! And for very good reason, its an isolated tree at Llyn Padarn near Llanberis and the view faces east for the sunrise through the mountains. Thankfully I had scouted the location the day before so knew where to walk in the ...

How many photographers does it take to change a lightbulb?

100. 1 to change the bulb, 99 to say "I could've done that". Ive just come across this joke and had a chuckle at it :) 2 other jokes/sayings and then Im done. The fastest way to make money with your photography equipment is to sell it. and How do you end up with a small fortune doing phot...

4 million ISO film on star gazing

This short film shows the amazing capabilities of the Canon MH20f-SH which can shoot upto 4 million ISO. This has allowed this film about star gazing to show the milky way not as a static picture but actually a film  http://www.diyphotography.net/movie-captures-amazing-milkey-way-canon-mh20f-...

Re: Fame, Glory ....... and Money

I watched the last episode the other night (NO SPOILERS I PROMISE). :D I quite liked the show in general but I believe the overall premise is somewhat flawed. Each week they cover different aspects of photography i.e. street, landscape, portraits, the body etc. This felt like they were searching for...

Re: Architectural clash

Thanks for the feedback. @Mike - Completely missed the light corner and agree a judge would pick up on this. Also agree that some judges would struggle to work out what they are seeing... @David - Yes I tried the mono but it kinda kills the whole shot, maybe less saturation and possibly boost the bl...
