Re: Don McCullin - Shell Shocked Soldier
I remember seeing the contact sheet for this particular shot and the amount of dodging and burning involved was quite extensive. The shadow cast by his helmet rendered his eyes in deep shadows, sadly I cannot find an online version of this to prove it! However, an interesting article covers James De...

Re: Halloween part 2
Thanks Chris and welcome to the forum!! I had completely forgotten about this image but may submit this into a future competition, if only to scare the judge :D This is so good. Really intense; that smile is eerie. I don't want to see the eyes. The creases on his face leading into the sockets makes ...

Re: Going Back
Was watching Thomas Heaton's excellent Youtube blog - https://youtu.be/Yq7hx6jSTtE - and saw he was shooting Langdale Pikes. This brought to mind your own shot that I remembered from last year. To be honest I think you got a better image than him! I dont follow many people on Youtube but would recom...

Re: Satellite photography - a rule breaker?
I agree with Wally that they are amazing images and put mans influence on the planet into perspective (pun intended). Would they be allowed in competitions? Thats not for me to say but a parallel to this in my view are photos of graffiti. Did you create the graffiti? No, but you took an image of it....

Having previously completed a 52 week project and knowing other members have completed 365 projects Im interested to see if anyone will be undertaking anything similar in the new year? Projects are a good method of encouraging yourself to get out and take more photos and possibly notice things you'v...
