Re: Day 1 - Five (Monochrome Shots) in Five (Days)
Yeah, that's what I was thinking. I've got Friday off work too, so that'll help.

Yep, though not without a fair bit of hassle in ordering it, due to repeatedly being flagged as fraud (even after twice phoning up and being told it was cleared to submit again).

Re: Day 2 - Five in Five
This was basically a grab shot - I was in the process of planning a shot of the trees (and hoping a person wouldn't take too long to walk out of sight) when the sun unexpectedly and briefly said hello, so I just took it. Didn't get time to pick the best aperture or focal point and I had to clone out...

Re: Day 1 - Five (Monochrome Shots) in Five (Days)
Well Sunday was a failure for me. :( I woke up later than planned, and was greeted with a completely flat grey sky, so that limited options - plus I needed to do shopping before closing time so decided I best find something around town. I was thinking I might be able to use the technique of getting ...

Re: 5 B&W photos in 5 days
I dunno what I'll be shooting yet, but I will definitely post the final image, the as-captured shot, and any deliberate choices/changes I made. If there's a story to include then I will (but I suspect it'll mostly be "I wandered about until I saw this"). Beyond that will be a question of t...

Re: Understanding focal length, sensor size and crop factors
Thanks. I hadn't connected the dots on aperture being affected too, though it makes sense.
I did consider switching system a little while back, butI decided I didn't want a toy the Nikon shape just seems to fit my hands better.

Understanding focal length, sensor size and crop factors
This is something I thought I understood, but then I was reading something and got confused, so now I want to make sure I've got things straight... I currently have a Nikon D300s - a DX (1.5 crop) sensor - and a DX 18-70 lens. Because of the crop factor, the magnification is equivalent to what would...

Re: $1500 Print
PS - MT links to a point below the start of his articles, so you will need to scroll up to see the beginning. Remove the #more-XXXX part from the URL and it'll go to the top. That's a general thing that works on any webpage* - whenever you see a # (hash) in a URL, everything that comes after is the...

Re: By Candlelight
Was trying to work it out, but still not sure why it bothers me. (It does, just can't determine the reason.) To add the height, expand the canvas size with anchor set to the bottom, then it's basically a question of cloning in bits of wall - Content Aware Fill might be ok here, or another option is ...
