Re: DAVID'S PHOTOS OF THE MONTH

June 2007 You may remember this - Croydon Park Hotel. During the construction of Altitude 25 on the corner of Addiscombe Grove and Fairfield Road (close to the Law Courts) one of the cranes collapsed and fell on Croydon Park Hotel, closing the hotel for a while to allow for repairs. I was fortunate ...

Re: DAVID'S PHOTOS OF THE MONTH

June 2012 - the same day that I photographed Tramlink's new units. The RCTS (Railway Correspondence & Travel Society) had arranged a visit to London Overground's depot at New Gross Gate. The large, yellow building houses the LO networks main control room and administration. The other building is...

Re: DAVID'S PHOTOS OF THE MONTH

2012 - at East Croydon Station. Tramlink had taken charge of a number of new tram sets, the first since the system was opened in May 2000. In June 2012 the management did a publicity photoshoot to show off their new acquisitions. Units 2554 (with a livery which can still be seen in 2021) and 2556 st...

Re: DAVID'S PHOTOS OF THE MONTH

June 2009 - Back on the Bluebell Railway I took advantage of my line side pass and visited West Hoathley Station. When the Bluebell reached this spot the residents of West Hoathly didn't want the station reinstated so all that's left of the former platform is a raised, overgrown area. The station wa...

Re: DAVID'S PHOTO OF MAY

During my search for images for my "Photos of the Month" posts I found a number of years when I visited the Bluebell Railway's "Southern at War" event, traditionally staged in May. Rather than clog up my POTM thread with yet more Bluebell Railway shots I thought I'm create a sepa...

SHEFFIELD PARK STATION

"A good old-fashioned sing-song" and "The Evacuee"

While these images did reasonably well in competition (sing-song got 9½ (out of twelve)) "The Evecuee" won me the Eileen Wadley Cup in the 2016 Exhibition.

Re: DAVID'S PHOTO OF MAY

HORSTED KEYNES STATION Re-enactors from the 23rd (Hastings) Battalion, Sussex Home Guard. Testing the equipment. No shots were fired but note the gentleman on the left - is his had is a football rattle which sounds awful like shots being fired! A stall set up on platform five and finally, moments to...
