Cityread Display at Croydon Central Library

Postby Mike Farley » Tue 02 Apr 2013, 19:25

The club's exhibit of images with a London theme, which is being hosted by Croydon Central Library as part of this month's Cityread event, is now on display. It is situated on the second floor by the escalator, where it will be seen by many visitors. The club's participation is being publicised in the publicity material being produced by the library, an example of which is attached.

Many thanks to Ron Barker for his assistance in putting up our images and to the members who contributed their photographs:

  • Ron Barker - panoramas of Trafalgar Square and Admiralty Arch
  • David Candlish - Tower Bridge and British Museum
  • Mike Day - Parliament in Mist and Mousetrap
  • Mike Farley - Icons Old and New
  • Eric Knowler - Church and Gherkin

UPDATE

Croydon Library has been very pleased with the display with a lot of people taking an interest in it and stopping to take a look. In fact, so well received has it been that South Norwood Library now wants to put it on show during May. I have agreed to this subject to the proviso that no one requires their images to be returned. A representative of the library will put up the display for us and take responsibility for the prints' safekeeping. If anyone does not want to participate in this further exhibition, can you let me know and I will arrange to get your pictures returned.

Next month also sees Adult Learners Week across the country and I have provisionally agreed to give a presentation at South Norwood Library on 18 May entitled "So You Want To Be a Photographer?". I will do this on behalf of Croydon Camera Club and anyone who wishes to come along to support will be very welcome. The talk will last for an hour and will most likely consist of showing a range of members' images together with a discussion about the types of cameras which are available and how to use the controls. I'll provide an update when I know more.
Regards
