13th November - Flashes, triggers & receivers needed!

Postby davidc » Mon 11 Nov 2013, 11:52

After completing the planning for this I will need more flashes & triggers than I actually own - if people could bring any flash, trigger and receiver they need I'd appreciate it.

Also, one of the shots uses a gizmo that won't work with Nikon cameras so for this people can use my camera. Bring an empty memory card you don't mind being Canon formatted on the night (you can reformat once you've got the images).

I can bring the following:

  • 1 x Canon 550EX flash + Stofen diffuser
  • 1 x Yongnuo 560 II flash
  • 4 x Yongnuo CF603 transceivers for Canon (note I currently only have sufficient AAA batteries for two of these)
  • 1 x umbrella (can be used as a reflector or shoot through)
  • 1 x softbox
  • 2 x stands plus & hot shoe holders
  • 2 x continuous shooting lights, one with softbox, the other daylight balanced, which can be mounted on the stands listed above
  • Spare AA rechargeable batteries

The continuous lights are not very powerful and are really only suitable for close work.

Let me know what you would like me to bring.
Regards

Add to the above a Lastolite hand held, five way reflector with white, silver, gold and black panels (to remove light) and diffuser.

Sounds like Mike has the "full monty" of lighting :)

I can bring my modest setup below if needed.

1 x Canon 430ex
1 x Yongnuo YN560-II
1 x light stand with 2 white umbrellas
plus 4 Channel PT-04 Wireless Flash Trigger Control Set with 2 x Receivers

But I expect that you have batteries. ;)

If you could bring your umbrellas, stands, flashes & triggering kit (with as many batteries as possible) I'll bring spare batteries.

The more kit we have the more setups I'll try to put out so people spend more time shooting.

OK, I'll bring the kit I listed with the exception of the continuous lighting gear.

Thanks. I was initially going to start the show with a brief presentation about strobism as a topic but I'm not sure I'll have time to create a presentation now and may instead just cover each of the different setups I've thought to do.

It could be it doesn't fill the whole two hours I'm afraid.

I must admit, I'm not entirely sure what is wanted/expected of me for this and I've not really had as much time to prepare as I'd want so I hope it isn't too disappointing a session.

Slight concern/panic :?

Basically it's your show, so subject matter is down to you.

From my perspective, I would be interested to know how you get your ideas, go about setting up a shot, photography equipment required (e.g. flash, wireless triggers etc.) and information about any post processing required.
