#230 - Sea Pigeon

Postby davidc » Wed 28 Aug 2013, 12:04

This is not a seagull. After visiting the beach near Cardiff and spotting a seagull swooping around with a fish in it's mouth I pointed it out to my wife.

She claimed it wasn't a seagull but in fact a pigeon. You know, those famous, huge, white pigeons that live in the sea.

I will be pointing out sea pigeons to her for a long time to come. I think she's lived in London too long.

(This is also a "bird in flight". Just FYI ;) :D )

#231 - Loch Eilean

Postby davidc » Wed 28 Aug 2013, 12:04

I think this is a fairly well known location for Scotland landscape scenes but couldn't resist taking a shot of it despite the miserable weather!

#232 - Wild Red

Postby davidc » Wed 28 Aug 2013, 12:04

I really like red squirrels and this is already one of my favourite shots of the year so far. Not only are they fellow gingers but I did a project on them as a kid. They are now extremely rare, the "imported" greys bringing parasites and aggression that has forced them into isolated locations in the north.

Seeing one in the wild - and even better getting a picture I love - was a real treat.

#233 - Wee White Hoose

Postby davidc » Wed 28 Aug 2013, 12:05

First of the Scotland images I've had time to process. I have the largest backlog of images to sort ever!

Another astonishingly overcast day, this little house was nestled in the hills and the cloud bank was rolling down the hill towards it.

#235 - Robo-Ladies

Postby davidc » Thu 29 Aug 2013, 10:00

Just a snapshot today, far too busy with other things for anything serious. And the batteries in my camera were both totally dead!

Bizarre metallic statues were littered around the shopping centre I was in :)

#236 - Gossamer

Postby davidc » Thu 29 Aug 2013, 10:01

More of a curiosity than a proper photo... though being really tired after 1800 miles driving meant there would NOT be a complicated shot today :)

Anyway, after coming back from holiday and finding this piece of "hemmingweb" sitting in the house I wondered how it got there when we'd been away for a week? Who moved it?

Thought I use it for today's image.

#237 - The End Of Summer

Postby davidc » Thu 29 Aug 2013, 10:01

The absurdly long shadow is what caught my eye and prompted me to take a photo but looking at it on a bigger screen there is a very strange halo around me (my legs especially)... wonder what that is?

#238 - Portal

Postby davidc » Thu 29 Aug 2013, 10:01

Walking around Soho trying to find a pub, this jumped out at me.

If only the person who drew it could have made the lines straight, trying to orient it properly was a pain :)

#239 - Le Cocktail

Postby davidc » Thu 29 Aug 2013, 10:02

It's been a while since I did a relatively simple setup like this (aka "mucking about with water") but I've got a few ideas I want to explore so expect to see more of these :)
