Useful advice from someone who lives in Austin, Texas where summertime temperatures are habitually higher than the exceptional* heat we experienced yesterday.

The article mentions particular problems with the Leica SL, a black metal bodied camera that can get too hot to handle if exposed to the sun. Any camera with a black body and/or lens will rapidly absorb heat and are best left in a bag while not in use. That is the reason why Canon paints their upmarket telephoto lenses white, better to reflect the sun's rays. A practice that some other manufacturers have started to adopt.
