Millers Wood suggest that 4 photographers attend at a time.
So that has worked out well.
Thanks Paul for organising.
Kind regards,

Hi Paul,
I have just been taking a second look at Millers Wood Bird Photography.
John Stanton suggests using flash. Did all of you use on camera flash for your images on your last visit?

David has kindly agreed to lend his second 100-400mm Canon lens.
That still leaves us one 100-400mm lens short.
I guess we need to borrow or hire another 100-400mm lens.

Any suggestions?

Wex Rental is a good option for lens.

Thanks Sarah.
I am looking at just a one day loan to keep costs down, which could be difficult to accomplish as Wex close at 6pm.
I think there might be some cheaper options for hire to explore too.
Might still mean having to miss your Wednesday 13 March Print evening to accomplish.

Unless there is a CCC member willing to loan or lend an old 100-400mm Canon lens?

David,
Did you use any flash when you were at Millers Wood?

No.

But then, it was a good day. Also, flash could frighten the birds away.

Iggy, when you referred to a 100-400mm lens short, did you mean me? I actually have a 75-300 Sigma which I will be bringing along so can suffice with this but enjoyed using David's lens for a time previously.

Hi Paul,
I wrongly assumed that everyone but me going to Millers Wood had a 100-400mm lens or better.
As I am not happy about using a 70-300mm sigma lens at Millers Wood, I checked with David B that he was prepared to lend me his second Canon 100-400mm lens and only then did I book to go.
So it came as a big surprise when you said last Wednesday that you did not have a 100-400mm lens and was hoping to use David’s lens too.

Hence, I have been looking at the possibility of borrowing or hiring a 100-400mm lens on the internet for just the one day to keep the costs down.
Wex is one possibility: https://rental.wexphotovideo.com/hire-canon-ef-100-400mm-f45-56l-is-ii-usm
Another is fatllama.com: https://fatllama.com/rentals/london/hire-canon-ef-100400mm-f4556-l-is-ii-usm-lens-65263146
Another possibility is borrowing from another Croydon Camera Club member who is willing to lend or hire out.

That’s where I am at the moment.

These days, I am still time strapped with helping out with grand children 4 days a week and picking up and returning to a hire company could be rather difficult.

Regards,
Iggy

I am planning to use my Fuji 100-400 lens next week. The limiting factor might not be lens power but battery power. At present I only have one battery for my X-H1 but am planning to acquire at lest one more before the event. As a backup in case my batteries do not last the day, I will have my Canon EOS 7D with 300 f/4 L and 1.4 extender. Paul and Iggy are welcome to borrow the lens while I am not using it.

Thanks Mike also. Iggy, please dont worry about getting a rental lens. I will make do with my own lens and any possible swaps on the day.
