You are invited to a Presentation
by Slawek Staszczuk
LANDSCAPE PHOTOGRAPHY IS SIMPLE
Wednesday, 6 February 2019, 7.45pm for 8.00pm until 10.00pm
at: The Salvation Army, Booth Way, Horsham RH13 5PZ

Horsham Photographic Society has secured the renowned guest speaker, Slawek Staszczuk, and we are happy to share with you the opportunity to see him.

Slawek is a Polish-born photographer based in Brighton who specialises in landscape. His imagery has been published in numerous magazines and used in brochures, advertisements and websites.
He will present diverse examples of his work, comment extensively on the techniques used and hurdles he had to overcome to get specific photos, and talk us through the "creative process".

Although his passion for photography evolved from his work with computer graphics, his approach is traditional. He strives to keep any post-production to a minimum and to perform most of the work in the field, before pressing the shutter release button. He relies on capturing the natural available light in those rare moments when everyday scenes are transformed into something out of the ordinary.

Parking and seating is limited and we recommend you reserve a seat.
A £10 charge is payable on the evening.
We are only able to accept cash or cheque.
Please go to our website for booking details: http://www.horshamphotographicsociety.co.uk or contact Anne David on 01403 891126.

Such a shame to have to do this, but fortunately we have been able to re-book Tom for May 23rd 2019. Please put this date in your diaries.

Cheam Camera Club Meeting - Wednesday 8th May 2019 - 19:45 for 20:00 start.

I am pleased to welcome Paul Sanders to Cheam, to present his talk "Solice - A mindful approach to Photography"

Recently his work has been recognised by Fujifilm, who inaugurated him into their exclusive X Series photographers . In addition to this honour he has been awarded Gold medals by the SWPP for his fine art and black and white images.

Extract from Paul’s website:

Landscape photography started as a form of therapy for me, as I struggled to cope with the pressure and stress of my previous job as Picture Editor of The Times. Looking at nearly 20,000 images everyday and the associated responsibilities left me suffering with stress, depression, insomnia and anxiety. Through my photography, I was able to express myself where words failed me. The result is that my emotions are plainly visible in every photograph I take, some are calm, almost meditative and others filled with emotions.

Of all the images I create, long exposures are my favourite. Leaving the shutter open for 5 - 45 minutes to allow the light and elements to move gives an ethereal quality that has a painterly feel to the images.

I don't rely on Photoshop trickery or digital editing to create my images; they are all made in camera with only minimal adjustments - colour balance, exposure and contrast. If I have to spend more than five minutes sitting behind my computer editing, I get bored. I'd rather be creating images in the fresh air than hunched over my Mac.

Guests may attend for £5 payable on the evening to the Treasurer, Colin.
