Laura's Shot of the Week January 2019

Postby Laura » Sat 12 Jan 2019, 10:54

Good Morning
I shall do this monthly, and see how it goes. Here is my first, then on January 1st in the Sevenoaks Wildlife Reserve.

Great shot.

What Laura has modestly not said is that, at the time of writing, this image has received nearly 53,000 views, 549 Faves and 39 comments on Flickr. I presume it made the grade on Explore.

You can see the current status at this link: https://flic.kr/p/2cZp1ew

Congratulations, Laura, what an amazing start to your challenge. Being perfectly reasonable people here, we shall, of course, expect more of the same over the next 51 weeks. ;)
Regards

Week TWO.
A rather gloomy post-festivities image, I know, but I have had a very busy week learning how to use Flickr !!

Hi Laura

There is nothing wrong with a bit of comment on current events in a Project 52. One of my options for this week is a reference to Brexit, if I have the courage to cope with the possible backlash. I have wondered how long it takes a pine tree to grow before it stands in our living rooms for 2-3 weeks before being discarded. For the past couple of years we have used a tree growing in a pot which stays outside for most of the year. It is like seeing an old friend when it comes back into the house. Whilst it might not be a competition image, I appreciate your shot for what it says.
Regards

Great idea. When I tried that a long time ago the tree died a slow and painful potted death, as it couldn't cope with central heating. Now I use a rather sad looking artificial one.... Time for a break from the whole festive thing maybe?

I will use this 52 project for images that are unlikely to be submitted in camera clubs competitions. I see this as fun project. ;)

Week THREE

How about an Otter Portrait. I know I am a day late but I did take this on Sunday 20th January at the British Wildlife Centre. I wanted the light to fall more heavily on one side of the creature - does it work though ?

A worthwhile place to visit if nature is your thing - or if you don't mind some on occasion ! I had not been there before, but shall be going back.

I like the way that the otter is looking directly at the camera. An unusual shot.

....And they have landed in Eltham Palace earlier this afternoon! I couldn't resist playing with this image, it just reminded me of a space ship
