S49-“Hallelujah” at Christmas Lights Reception

I attended the Croydon Mayor's Christmas Lights Reception in the Town Hall.
The guests were treated to some wonderful soulful singing by Roger Samuels with Leon Dixon on keyboard.
“Mary, Did You Know” and “Hallelujah” was enjoyed by all. Really delightful.

S51-Faded Daffodils Brighten up a Rainy Night

Decided to brighten up a rainy night with some faded daffodils.
These were shot in room lights with no flash.
Just experimenting!
Nice to shoot flowers out of season!!!

Cannot believe it.
Just the one image to go!
Will I do it again next year?

Congratulations on nearly reaching the end of the year. There is a lot to be said for a project which encourages the practice of picking up a camera at least once a week.

S52- Festive Christmas Lights - The Strand - London 2019

I wanted to capture the Festive Christmas Lights in London.
Central London streets were rather overcrowded with revelers and shoppers making selective photography rather difficult.
The roads were also overrun with cars and slow moving double-decker buses.

There was only one thing for it.
Try and capture all these aspects in one image.

I decided to work with the festive lights on the North Bank of the Strand.
Here the lights gave good coverage of the sky depending on the shooting position.
This position also required minimal interference in the foreground from posts, bus stops, telephone boxes, and no cars on the left side.

Then, the image was carefully composed in camera and I waited till all the aspects came together before clicking.
Many takes when pedestrian lights were on red were needed to capture the required effect.
There was minimal cropping and Photoshop.

My CCC SOTW is now complete for 2019.

Happy New Year to All,
Iggy
