S22 Goslings sitting to attention

Two Saturdays ago, I went to Morden Park in search of butterflies, but it was too busy with people.
At least I got to chat with the various nature and conservation groups that had stalls and even a laboratory with half a dozen microscopes.
Also visited Maidenhead Aquatics, a large tropical fish shop, a popular haunt of mine, when I was writing fish features for magazines.

On the way back, around 2 pm, I stopped to explore Mitcham Park for the first time ever.
Lots of woodland and open grass with sighting of four species of butterfly that were rather flighty.
I was pleasantly surprised to find a rather large pond even though it was not in the best of condition, where a few people were fishing.
Walked round to the quiet side of the pond where there were some Canada geese with goslings.

What do I do to get something a little different from these bunch of geese?
The large group of goslings were dozing.
First had to gently wake them up and get them to split up into smaller groups, all done from a distance.
Then had to get the adults to move out of shot without panicking them into the water.
Finally got the group of four goslings sitting to attention and watching me!
Took a good 15 to 20 minutes to get these goslings the way I envisaged them in my mind’s eye and then took some photographs.
Fortunately no disturbance from people when all this was going on!

I did get lost walking from Seven Islands Pond back into the dense woods towards Commonside East, but eventually found my car.

Working on S23 image to catch up with Shot of the week!

Could do with a bit of desaturation, but there is a wide variation in tonality. I am thinking that the central area at the bottom could be lightened to even things up. Maybe straighten the verticals as well? I would also be tempted to darken the bright area on the right and try flipping the image as the lights do not seem to be in a strong position.

S24 Punts to go in Canterbury

Spent a delightful weekend in Canterbury attending a wedding.
After a hearty English breakfast, found time to walk in Westgate Gardens besides the River Stour on the Saturday morning.
Punts were being readied for the tourists flowing through the town.

It was a hot sunny morning when I Invited this lady to sit for me.
The location of the bench meant that there was no getting away from the sun!
