The Pink Ukulele

With a rather busy week, I could not bring myself to go out in search of a SOTW.
I thought that I might try and capture images of a pair of magpies that are considering nesting in our holly tree.
However, they did not settle and were just that too far to get any decent shots.

Suddenly it was Sunday afternoon and a rather dull cloudy one at that.
That left me considering what to do indoors.
After some consideration and experimentation, I settled on “The Pink Ukulele”.

Chasing Blue Sky

Shot somewhere in London with dull cloudy weather and just a little break of blue sky.

Decided to crop image to focus more on that little bit of blue sky.
Being able to see whole image without having to scroll probably makes it stronger!
Makes the couple more prominent too.

The crop is a good idea, but if your subject is the sky and the couple then maybe crop even further - i.e. have you experimented with taking 20-30% away from the right-hand side?

As for needing to scroll, you can always zoom to view a full image - hold Ctrl key and use the mouse wheel to go larger/smaller, use Ctrl-0 to reset to regular zoom. (On a Mac, use Cmd key instead of Ctrl.)

Thanks Peter for the feedback which is appreciated.
I want to retain the triangle at the top and also the squarish shape.
So I have taken an additional 10% off the right side and also from the bottom.
That's as far as I can go, I think.
Unless I can rotate the original image to get rid of some more of the darkness!

By the way, congratulation on doing so well in the recent club competitions!

Regards,
Iggy

Thanks Iggy, I think that was the first time I've got certificates for all three images in one night. :)

Tuba Reflections of the Salvation Army Brass Band.

I am in it too!! Can you spot me with my camera?
Shot on Croydon High Street last Good Friday.
The Salvation Army brass band was leading the hymns and providing the music for the closing session for the Walk of Witness & Re-enactment of the Crucifixion.
I took lots of shots of the tuba player in bright sunlight but finally settled on this image for my SOTW.
No further cropping on this one!!!

Further to my Tuba Reflections taken at the Walk of Witness & Re-enactment of the Crucifixion on Good Friday, Tom, I and perhaps another did manage to get some images into the Croydon Guardian on line.
These can be viewed at https://www.yourlocalguardian.co.uk/news/17591937.in-pictures-croydon-easter-sunday-crucifixion-re-enactment/#gallery2.
Images 3 & 4 were shot by me, where you should recognise a CCC member! See below.

Snail on Pink Camellia

Another month has flown by and its already late for S17.
I am still steering away from subtility and again going for bold brash colours.
Camellias are seasonal and this pink beauty is the last of the late bloomers in our garden.
It was question of use it or lose it.
So here goes:
