It's nice to know you're not perfect ;)

It is almost my only flaw.

David said: In the case of Iggy's shot I might have tried to get the verticals right in camera

All that I had in mind was to get an unobstructed view of the saxophonist with a festive background. Oxford street was crowded and dark and in over 10 minutes of circling the musician there was just the one opportunity to get that shot without people walking in front of me or along side the musician. My focus was on the saxophone which I wanted vertical and sharp. Also, the saxophonist was starting to get irate with me for grabbing some of his spot light. He gestured for me to move on which I did in the end as I was on my own at that time.

Mike said: In Photoshop leave the saxophonist at his jaunty angle and use Transform, liquify or Warp to correct the background verticals.

I have tried free transform, but that made the saxophonist fatter which I circumvented by making him taller to get his body shape right. That reduced the amount of Christmas decorations which diminished the image.
I may well try the other options that Mike has suggested when I have time as I have not used those techniques before.
Something to consider is that for this image, if entered in "PDI of the Year", no changes are permitted!

Thanks for all the feed back ans suggestions which are much appreciated.

Since last year's Print and PDI of the Year competitions, there has been a change to way PhotoEntry works for these type of contests. Members will no longer have to upload new copies of their images, rather they will simply be able to select from those already submitted to the relevant category.

Thanks Laura.
I guess it is the ugly duckling about to change into a swan.
So technically still a cygnet?

I guess technically that is what you might call it. Where did you take it?

Tuesday 8th January, although cold, was such a lovely, sunny day!
I got to Beddington Park at 4 pm with the sun starting to set behind some trees in the distance.
The light on the water was wonderful but it was crowded with gulls and geese, who fortunately dashed off to be fed on the other bank.
A single white swan appeared on my side but didn’t make for good photographs.
Then along came the single beautiful cygnet that I was able to manoeuvre by trickery into a position facing the sun. I just had time for 3 shot, 2 of which were too tightly cropped before it swam off.

Hi Laura,
Accidentally called it a gosling rather than a cygnet.
Thanks,
Iggy
