I agree, it's those desperation shots that turn into something unexpected that I like the most - those are the examples Mike has talked about in the past where "there's a photo there, you just need to see it", for me at least.

#210 - Another Flower

Postby davidc » Mon 05 Aug 2013, 12:41

Sorry, this is just another bland flower shot - I'd intended to post process it into something much more artistic but the method I'd had in mind didn't really work, leaving me with the original image.

#212 - Raspberry Fizz

Postby davidc » Mon 05 Aug 2013, 12:42

I didn't exactly pioneer the concept behind this shot for myself but bubbles + macro lens = largely irresistable :)

#213 - Soulful

Postby davidc » Mon 05 Aug 2013, 12:43

Every Friday in London Bridge station there are groups of people singing/playing to the commuters. I think it's sponsored by the mayor's office.

Anyway, this girl was really getting into her performance and I managed to catch her just as a ray of light hit her.

#214 - Cardiff Bay

Postby davidc » Mon 05 Aug 2013, 12:44

I thought today had turned into a (photographical) disaster... I'd gone to the beach intending to shoot some super long exposure daytime shots only to realise I'd left my 10 stop filter in the house.

Still, I could stack my normal filters... except I'd left the adaptor ring for them in the house :(

Although I had a few shots of some fossils found on the beach they were a bit lame.

Going out for dinner in Cardiff Bay saved the day and proof you should always take your camera and gorillapod out to dinner :)

#215 - Final Flower

Postby davidc » Mon 05 Aug 2013, 13:33

I was helping a friend pick flowers for her garden when this caught my eye. Although I sort of like it, I'm aware I am shooting a lot of flowers lately and I don't find them as interesting as other subjects... so I'm going to try hard to stop just shooting flowers and get enough energy back to do interesting stuff!

Wish me luck ;)

#216 - Romanesque

Postby davidc » Tue 06 Aug 2013, 10:26

Well... I've mentioned I've been a little bored of macro shots but I'd been waiting for these to come back into season so I could tackle them. Personally, I look at them and all I see are fractals :)

Except when I looked at the cauliflower, bought this afternoon, it was covered in mould!

I figured maybe taking close up photos of household objects has it's benefits after all :)

That's instagram :) Comes with the territory. Anyway, the grainy polaroid look was what I was trying to achieve ;)
