A landscape from the Cantal region of France. Does the mono treatment work ? C&C welcome, thanks.

My eye is drawn to the central part of the image, probably as it has direct sunlight lighting up the houses. If this is the focus of the image it may benefit from darkening the closer foliage and adding a vignette as the image contains alot of midtones.

Thanks Paul...I lightened the foreground as it was really very dark, so I could probably tone it back down again... Or revert it to colour, I'll try both ;)

It feels unbalanced to me, the lower part especially. Cropping the top and bottom seems to help it.

I don't think there is enough contrast in the foliage and it looks a bit mushy. The central area and sky are fine but with so many trees/leaves together it blends into one.

Just seen Mike has said essentially the same thing :D

Hi Rose,

How about a square crop? Might balance it more and keep the eye on the sunlit highlands.

I read all the previous critiques and I must say that the only opinion I concur with is that a bit of vignetting might improve it. Having said that I like the image very much Rose. :) :)
