Let's go with 2 May, my house at 7:30. Dave Newman indicated that he was available on that evening, so hopefully he will still be free.

If anyone needs the address, drop me a PM and I'll send you the details.
Regards

Thanks for the excellent evening, Mike.
I certainly understand LR4 better now and how it compares to my current set up, I just have to decide on whether to spend the money on it.

Might be worth downloading the beta version of Lightroom 5 for free and getting that when it comes out instead.

Hi Mike
Not sure whether you got previous message so am repeating it here.
Thank you for a very informative and interesting evening. I am in awe of your extensive knowledge of all things photographic.
The memory stick is not mine.
Hope you have a good weekend.
Many thanks

It was my pleasure to be able to introduce people to Lightroom and I am glad that everyone found the evening useful.

I would endorse Dave's suggestion of downloading the LR5 beta, which is valid until 30 June. The standard Adobe trial period for released products is 30 days, so it allows a bit more time to try it out. Be sure to read the notes about using beta software and in particular the item about the catalogue. The LR5 beta does not update catalogues from previous versions and is not backwards compatible with them. If you invest a lot of time importing and keywording images, the beta catalogue can only be migrated to the full version of LR5 when it is released. The software can be downloaded from this link:

http://labs.adobe.com/technologies/lightroom5/

Based on what is in the beta, there are some evolutionary improvements over LR4, but it is not a "must have" upgrade compared to the changes introduced with earlier versions. Those who already have LR4 will be OK with that unless they buy a new camera which is only supported by LR5 or there is a new feature which they really want.

By process of elimination, I now know who the owner of the USB memory stick as I have now heard back from everyone to whom it is does not belong. I''ll bring it to the club next Wednesday.
Regards

I will download the LR5 beta, then all I need to do is find time to try it,
