External speakers at other clubs

Postby Steve B » Fri 21 Sep 2018, 10:04

As Secretary I often get emails from other clubs advertising external speakers at their club evenings which can be attended for a small fee. I will put the most interesting of these in this thread as they arrive. The first is below from Old Coulsdon.

SPORT PHOTOGRAPHY talk from Ady Kerry on 25th September. He is a freelance editorial photographer who is a sports specialist. Former Royal Air Force photographer with over 25 years experience in the industry providing imagery to the world's media, sports governing bodies, and businesses. Should be a very entertaining evening with some great examples of this genre. Visitors welcome £5

This coming Wednesday Cheam Camera Club will be hosting a talk by Justin Minns - A landscape photographer who specialises in atmospheric images that capture the natural beauty of the landscape, particularly near his home in East Anglia, although he travels world wide and has just returned from Canada.

This will give an opportunity to see the images and work from a photographer outside our immediate area, and develop techniques, particularly in landscape photography and the use of filters.

We are very fortunate to have Justin come and speak to the Club, as we are far from his home, however he welcomed the opportunity to come and speak to us.

“There’s a thrill in watching the first pastel colours of the day appear over the frozen stillness of a Broads landscape on a winters morning or standing on a wild and windy beach as the sun’s first rays skim over the dunes and capturing these moments is what my photography is all about.”

Guests and non-members welcome for £5

I have been to one of Danny Green's talks at Guildford before.
He is very entertaining and his images are gorgeous. He says he does most of it in camera with not much post processing.
Am tempted to go again.

Leigh Preston is also appearing at Epsom CC on Monday 5 November.

Leigh Preston FRPS EFIAP MPAGB: ‘I have been taking pictures for over forty years. My work has been mainly thematic, making images as a series. I have a relatively specific approach to what I choose to make pictures of, and I rely heavily on atmospherics, dramatic lighting and strong storylines to convey an individual style.

As with Old Coulsdon, there will be a £5 visitor fee on the night.

Please send an email directly to me (wilmanphoto@ntlworld.com) if you wish to attend as we have a limited of seats available, so first come…. and I will provide details of our venue.

Both these evenings provide a rare opportunity to hear Leigh speak about and show his superb work.

Best wishes

Rosemary
