24hr London Photowalk

Postby davidc » Wed 08 May 2013, 16:57

Advanced Photographer editor Will Cheung ran a 24 hour photoshoot in London last year that was extremely popular. It's a free, loosely organised event that is designed to bring photographers together for a 24 hour period of shooting in the capital. Although many people chose not to participate for the full 24 hours, most did and reported the experience was extremely rewarding, gave them a new set of photography friends and was extremely rewarding.

It was so successful he's hoping to do it again this year on 21st/22nd June. I've been talking to him and although he's planning to firm up details soon he's definitely planning on making it happen.

Would anyone be tentatively interested? Personally I think it's a great idea and being able to shoot in London with the added security of more photographers is a unique opportunity. Yes, 24hrs is a long time but it's once a year and we'd be doing this at our pace, wherever we wanted to go and with as many stops for coffee as we could possibly want! Sounds like a great idea to me :)

I've also pitched it to the camera club at work and two have signed up. If you're interested please let me know and I'll try to keep you abreast of developments.

I could be up for this, but would need to know a bit more about it.

There are probably not that many coffee shops open in the early hours of the morning when I suspect that participants would be most in need of their services. ;)

Depends where you go! Piccadilly is almost 24/7 and many of the fast food places are - although I've not been to McDonalds in 10 years I wouldn't want to break that tradition now!

Still, we can always bring flasks/Red Bull/intravenous caffeine drips.

I might be willing to go for this. Maybe not 24hrs but tempted to opt for sunset to sunrise. Keep me informed.

In principle I do like the idea but doubt very much I would last the full course. So put me down as interested Dave. :)

Excellent :) The more the merrier!

I'm hoping that my father-in-law won't break with tradition and schedule his birthday before the actual day otherwise I'll be in Norfolk for the weekend :(

I'd really like to do this event.

It's reached the stage now where they would like us to register our interest - it's totally free though, they just need to get an idea of numbers. Samsung have also sponsored the event too so there might be some Samsung kit available for people to play with on the day too.

Unless I hear otherwise, I'll register everyone who has expressed an interest on this thread. They don't need names/addresses or anything, it's purely to get an idea for numbers.
