Newsletter - 21 February 2021

Postby Mike Farley » Tue 23 Feb 2021, 10:12

By way of a change this week, as well as the usual notices, our newsletter has a brief discourse on the topic of perception. Do we all see in the same way? By and large, yes we do. But that is when the differences start to emerge.

An unusual aspect of last week’s SLF PDI Plate competition, which our club hosted, was the inspiration for the article. Photocraft proved to be worthy winners and our club finished 4th. Two of our images did particularly well. “November Nets” by Jack Bates scored 10 and “Golden Eagle Snares a Hare” by Steve Brooker was not far behind on 9½. Well done, both.

This week, we have the return match when we again take on the Malta Institute of Professional Photography. The scoresheet is included with this e-mail. Everyone who submitted images to be considered for our panel has at least one shot included, although in some instances we did choose from members’ other work. An unusual feature of this international competition is that it will be marked by two judges, one from each country. It can make for some interesting variations in the assessments.

Due to the time difference between the UK and Malta, this meeting will start an hour earlier than usual at 7:00 pm.
