Another New Photography Show

Postby Mike Farley » Wed 10 Jul 2013, 09:19

The announcements of new photography shows are coming thick and fast at present. Seemingly Focus on Imaging will be replaced by two shows, "The Photography Show" at the traditional NEC location and now "London Imaging Live 2014" at the ExCeL Centre at the end of March. The hope is that the London event will attract more visitors as many people were not prepared to travel to the Midlands.

There is also Photo Live 2013 later this year, although that is mainly concentrating on talks from leading figures in photography and is being held at a smaller venue.

The organisers of London Imaging Live have now realised the folly of having two major photographic shows in the same month and are moving their event to later in the year, sometime in October. I would imagine that they were experiencing difficulty in getting support from potential exhibitors, many of whom would not want to make a significant investment in time and money for both shows when they were so close together. This report from Amateur Photographer suggests that the viability of the London show is still in some doubt - "Organisers say they still hope to stage the event at the ExCel centre in east London".

I, for one, hope that both shows will go ahead as planned.
