Nikon webcam not working

Has anyone else downloaded the new Nikon webcam utility? I can't get mine to work. You're supposed to just connect the camera to your your computer and hey-presto. But with me it just shuts off movie mode as soon as I attach it. Any advice?

Hi Andy

I do not have a Nikon camera but when I went onto the download page for the webcam utility it reported that older Nikon models are unsupported. If you have one of those, it looks as though you will be out of luck unless Nikon has a change of heart. This is the list of cameras which should work, taken directly from Nikon's website:

Z 7II, Z 7, Z 6II, Z 6, Z 5, Z 50, D6, D5, D850, D810, D780, D750, D500, D7500, D7200, D5600, D5500, D5300 and D3500.

Hi Andy

I have just come across this article on PetaPixel about using capture cards to convert any camera into a webcam. I have not investigated further but it might be worth looking into if you are still seeking a solution.

Thanks Mike. I bought a cheap webcam in the end. Regretting it but that's another story...
