Photoshop Reaches Its 30th Birthday

It is easy to forget how far Photography has come in the last few decades. 30 years ago film was still predominant but the first stirrings of digital were already there. Like much new technology, high costs meant it was limited to the realm of professionals. Photoshop was part of the revolution which made digital imaging available to everyone else.
Jeff Schewe, who had a role in the evolution of Photoshop, has written an interesting article about its history, the introduction and challenges of Camera Raw, and the progression to Lightroom. It includes a short video which shows just how limited the original version of Photoshop was. Something I had not realised was how the genesis of Photoshop owed much to George Lucas and the Star Wars films.
