The Red Admiral butterfly has finally accepted me as a non threatening buddy and usually tends to ignore my presence now.
It even spent a few minutes feeding on a buddleia flower although located on the upper echelons of the bush.
No worries though for my Lumix FZ1000 set at around 350mm equivalent, 1/200sec and hand held!

It's a Red Admiral.

Thanks David.
That's even better.
I was thinking that it was too big for the small Tortoiseshell.
Good to know that some one is looking at the forum!

I don't get those exotic types on my Buddleja, I had to go to the Cotswold where i spotted the Tortoiseshell and Red Admiral

Good to see these colourful beauties side by side.
My Red Admiral preferred to feed with its wings upright. Opened up when it was just sunning itself higher up out of camera reach.
I did have a peacock that stayed for a couple of weeks in July, but too timid to get close.
