Fuji To Open a Store In Covent Garden

Postby Mike Farley » Thu 18 Jul 2019, 08:06

While Canon anticipates a significant drop in its 2019 profits due to ‘shrinking camera sales.’, Fujifilm is feeling sufficiently confident to open a major new store in Covent Garden. Opening date is expected to be towards the end of this year.

There is no news yet of when the store will open but the other day I found the location in Long Acre, Covent Garden and quickly grabbed this shot. Using a Fuji camera, of course. ;)

I was up in town this morning and decided to look in on the Fuji store opening. The shot below shows the queue in Long Acre just after 10:30. I estimate that are 40 or so people depicted. Was it worthwhile joining on at the end to get one of the free 100 goody bags on offer, each of which contained a Fuji camera?

Not exactly. The next shot shows what was happening further on. The queue went down to the Five Guys restaurant on the corner before turning through nearly 360 degrees to go most of the way down Garrick Street. There were probably somewhere just in excess of 100 people waiting at that stage. A moderate success for Fuji's PR but I had better things to do. I will pop in next time I am in the area.

I have yet to see inside, but Amateur Photographer has a preview. It certainly looks to be worth a visit, regardless of which make of camera you use.
