Surprise, But No Surprise

The surprise is not the news itself, but how long it has taken to emerge. More than three years since there was last an update to the range, Nikon has officially killed of its 1 series of cameras. The line always looked like an outlier, introduced so that Nikon could have a mirrorless product, albeit one which did not compete with its DSLR sales. With both Nikon and Canon rumoured to have new full frame mirrorless systems ready for launch at Photokina, the 1 series no longer has a reason to exist.
