Skylum, the developers of Luminar, has just announced a beta release of its digital asset management software, which is the equivalent of Lightroom's Library module. In last week's issue, Amateur Photographer reviewed Luminar and liked the results. Unfortunately, it also found the application to "lack polish" and was markedly slower than Lightroom. It might be a while before there is a viable alternative for those who dislike Adobe's subscription model which will allow them to flee the company's clutches.
