Sigma Image Stabilisation Issue

Postby Mike Farley » Fri 09 Mar 2018, 08:41

A report of some strange behaviour from the new Sigma Art 24-105 lens. Optical image stabilisation works by having a movable element which compensates for camera shake during exposures. According to this report, the element can move during long exposures, even though stabilisation has been turned off. Possibly this is fixable with a firmware update, although there has been no statement to this effect from Sigma. As currently configured, the lens does not appear to be suitable for situations which require a slow shutter speed with the camera mounted on a tripod.
