We Are Doing It Wrong

On PetaPixel there is an article about the top 20 highest priced photographs of all time sold at auction. Quite a few, I suspect, would not make the grade in front of a typical camera club judge. Nothing new there.
To make this exclusive list, it would help if your name is either Cindy Sherman or Andreas Gursky, who account for more than half the top 20 with six appearances each. Sherman's work is the ultimate in selfies and she has featured as the subject in her images long before the trend became fashionable. Two of her photos appear in the list twice. As is usually the case with any form of art, the shots have been resold and the photographer has not benefited financially from the transaction.
