This lens, which will cost a minimum of $949*, is the same optical design as used in the Helios 44 which was the standard lens supplied with the old Zenit SLRs. Literally millions were manufactured and can be picked up for around £25 on eBay. Anyone who is into using adapted lenses probably has one. Sure, it was not produced to the same standards as the new lens will probably be, but the Russian version is sharp wide open and the results look similar. And it is available now.

* It is unclear from where the lens will be dispatched. The company address is in the US, the lens will be manufactured by Tokina in Japan and the pricing is in dollars. If it is from outside the EU, there will be import duty and VAT to pay.
