On my way home from work tonight I visited the new MMX Gallery in New Cross. It is currently hosting an exhibition called Inside the Outside - Exploring Contemporary Landscape Photography. Inside the Outside is a collective of UK based photographers who take a creative approach to landscape photography, some using multiple exposures and intentional camera movement for aesthetic effect, others seeking to make more of a statement about the landscape.
It is certainly not for everyone, and best visited when you are in the right mood for something a bit different and contemplative. There were probably only around 30 prints in total, so look at the website to judge whether it is something you would enjoy before deciding to make the trip.
I must say that I found some of the images very beautiful and it has encouraged me to experiment with some different techniques.
MMX is devoting itself to contemporary photography so is one to watch. The owner was very friendly and able to share some detail on the techniques used by the different photographers.
