In the digital age, it seems that some people are unaware of how analogue images are made. What is astonishing about this story is not only the mistake made by the seller, but that someone actually bought the ruined paper.

Er, my original comment, the story on PetaPixel and the copy of the eBay listing illustrating it clearly show that the paper was sold.

I can only think that somoene, if they had not realised their mistake on receipt of the paper, tried to put it through an inkjet printer. I am not sure what the result would be, but the ink used in printers and the coatings on the paper are designed so that the ink dries instantly on contact. On the one occasion when I accidently printed on the reverse side of a sheet of resin backed photo paper, the image had a kind of abstract look and it took over six months for the ink to dry.
