It is not a landscape, although I do like a lot of his landscape work. Strangely, his best known photo, "Moonrise, Hernandez" does not do much for me and I do wonder if I am alone in that. There are stories circulating of Ansel Adams offering prints to people for $500 and being declined. The regret which those people express is not the loss of an opportunity to own the work at would now be a bargain price, but not being able to sell it for a significant profit a few years on.
No, my favourite is this shot of the artist Georgia O'Keeffe and Orville Cox. Adams did not just do landscapes. Do not go by this low quality JPEG. I have seen an original print and the tonality is stunning.
