Day 155 and a tricky shot to take due to the windy conditions. Fortunately it was a sunny evening, so I was able to freeze the plant with a high shutter speed and used my shadow to darken the background.

You certainly do know this tree and like you I did not have much success until I worked out that to emphasise the roots a wide-angle close to the subject was the only real option...
