Re: Suggested Outing - Faversham
One suggestion for the itinerary is a tour of the Shepherd Neame brewery which claims to be the oldest in the country. I have had an initial discussion with them and there is an option for a private visit. The idea is that there would be time for photographic opportunities that would not be possible...

Re: Suggested Outing - Faversham
Hi David Sorry to hear about the Covid. Hope you will be out and about agin soon. At present, this is simply establishing how much interest there would be in such a trip and I doubt if anything will happen this side of Easter. If others have their own suggestions, we might have some options to consi...
Ukraine
The Amateur Photographer website is running a couple of articles about the devastating and completely unnecessary conflict in Ukraine. The first is the photographic industry's response to events. Many companies have suspended their operations in Russia as part of the economic sanctions against the c...

Suggested Outing - Faversham (17 May)
In his most recent newsletter, Tom suggested that the club organise some outings and sought recommendations of places to visit. Faversham is within easy reach and has lots of interest, such as: ⋅ Historic town centre ⋅ Standard Quay (park for free here while exploring the area) &...

Photo of the Month 2022 - Wave Watchers (February)
Watching the waves at Shoreham during Storm Franklin. I included this shot in the image critique evening at the club on 16 March and modified it based on the judge's feedback. I have darkened the man's hands to make them less intrusive and cloned some of the waves on the upper third with the Lightro...

Skimming the Waves
I was at Shoreham-on-Sea on Monday as Storm Franklin blew itself out. This shot was taken with a long telephoto zoom that proved to be very difficult to hold steady with wind speeds that were probably in excess of 50 mph. The wind was catching the large lens and pushing it around. Fortunately, it wa...

Re: Is this off camera flash theory correct?
[quote="abennettphotography"....either you can't mix and match or else I'm doing something wrong...[/quote] Probably. ;) Without being familiar with the kit, it is difficult to give anything other than a general suggestion. Presumably you have already tried Google. Godox support, if such a...

Re: Really?! You don't need to calibrate your screen not even for printing
If you think that strange, Brooks Jensen of LensWork reckons using the sRGB profile for printing works every time regardless of whatever paper or printer is used. His article is behind a paywall so I cannot link to it. I have not tried this for myself but Jensen has had a long career in publishing s...

Camera Competes In Winter Olympics Downhill Event
A Sony Alpha 1 with a 24-70 lens takes a tumble at the Beijing Olympics. There was some minor damage to the rear LCD screen and the lens hood did not survive. The onsite Sony support team had the camera back in action the following day.
